everybody

so I've pretty much done nothing today and it's been kinda nice. we went to k-mart to get some extensions cords and potting soil this morning. we were on the way to get groceries when we were distracted by Rosa's. after eating, we were too full to care about groceries so we just went home and play video games.

I had goals of getting a lot done today. I had hoped to wash the dishes and draw some pictures and play sims 2 and put away my clothes and a number of other things. none of this was accomplished, but I don't feel so bad about it. I did redo my budget and start re-designing my webpage, so it wasn't a complete waste of a day.

we stopped by the car repair place to get some things out of Chris' car this morning. it was weird to see it all up on stilts and disassembled. he has a 2009 Charger as his loaner car this time, it is much better than the minivan he had last week. I will have to take a picture of it before it is returned.

Steve and Mike are moving some stuff to their new house. we are supposed to go out there soon, too, but I don't wanna. don't get me wrong, I am very curious to see it. but when we moved, no-one seemed to care and I am a little bitter about it. like, everyone just kind of ignored the fact that it was happening. now, seven months later, there are still some of our friends who have yet to come over. it hurts my feelings, you know? so why should I go act all excited for them when they could not extend the same courtesy? just saying.

we're supposed to get back to D&D tonight, we'd taken some time off from it. I am excited, but I don't know how well it is going to work out. by the time we get started, it will probably be around 9:00 - 10:00. that means I will quickly become tired and fall asleep. we need to start at 6:00 - 7:00 so the game doesn't last til 4 in the morning. I am not so young anymore, I can't pull these all-nighters. still, I am glad to get back to my character, Jerridon Fellebane III. I have some very grand plans for him.

ch-ch-ch-changes

Steve, Mike, and Bobby are going to sign a lease tomorrow. they are going to be renting a house. last night might have been the last time we ever go to Steve's (parents') house after wings. it is the end of an era. I am excited for them, but jealous also. they will have a yard and a basement and all sort of things that come with having a house instead of an apartment. ah well, all the more reason for me to buy a house. my paycheck this week was the first to include my new raise, so I now have some numbers to plug into my new Buying a House Spreadsheet. I love spreadsheets.

we had salmon for dinner tonight. Chris threw some lemon juice and various spices on it. I am not a fish person, but it was very good. again, I suppose this is probably because I am getting older, more adult, etc.

salmon

it should please you to know, though, that I still gagged on the frozen green beans (canned green beans for the win!) and refused to eat any more of them. so perhaps I am not so old after all.

threes

what has happened to me in the last few days? glad you asked!

Friday we went to On The Border for dinner. if you'll recall, I was pretty sick the last time we went there, so it was nice to go and enjoy myself there again. we got the OTB Dip Trio - it was amazing. I strongly recommend it. I wanted to try the Sopapillas, but Chris was too full so we didn't. later, we went to see Angels & Demons. it was okay, but they changed some things from the book that I didn't necessarily like. I think I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the book. but I am still glad I saw it, so it wasn't too bad.

Saturday we dropped my car off for an oil change and inspection. we stopped at Wendy's before Chris went to Magic. on the way out of the parking lot, Chris originally intended to go left. the traffic was pretty bad, what with it being a Saturday afternoon and all, so he decided to turn right instead. while we were waiting, some guy pulled his car up on the right side of Chris. we didn't see him. so when Chris pulle dout and turned right, he totally hit the car. it wasn't pretty:

ouch!

I was pretty angry, so I stayed in the car. I didn't want to be that lady on COPS who jumps a guy and claws at his face just because she doesn't like the way he's talking to her man. but yeah, this totally sucks. I mean, he only had the car back for two days after the window replacement, and now this? I told him he should keep it up, soon all the parts of his car will be brand new.

but yeah, so he went to Magic anyway. I hung out with my mum and sister for a while until my car was done and then I went to the Park City Mall with Kim. it was the first meeting of the Magic Widows club. as we were leaving, she noticed a bubble tea stand and innocently asked what bubble tea means. it is funny, I had just been searching the internet for the nearest bubble tea purveyor and the Park City Mall had not been mentioned. I was ecstatic at our luck. I talked her into buying one so that we could try them together.

bubble tea

our reactions were less than favorable. the tea itself was delicious, the "bubbles" were disgusting.

bubble tea

you'd just be sipping your tea, minding your own business, when suddenly there would be a huge glob of gross in your mouth. so unpleasant. we decided the best thing to do would be to drink all the tea...

bubble tea

...and shoot them off the deck into Kim's neighbors' bushes.

kim shoots

we were a but supicious as to the content of the balls (they didn't taste like any tapioca we'd ever eaten), so we decided to dissect them. it seemed to be a uniform grossness throughout.

dissection

but yeah, bubble tea did not live up to my expectations. I think it would be okay if the balls were smaller and more firm. it would be less like eating eyeballs that way.

yesterday, my aunt had a picnic for Memorial Day. Chris wasn't feeling well so he stayed home, which was fine. he often doesn't want to stay long enough for my liking, so I wasn't too upset to not have him along. his loss, though, we had a lot of fun. after that, Chris and I went grocery shopping. late night grocery shopping is awesome, let me tell you. it was so empty, no-one was in my way, all the self check-out lines were open. it was great.

today we went to my parents' house for lunch on the grill. I can never have too many hot dogs. they also had a watermelon. my mum and dad complained that it was not ripe enough, but it tasted fine to me. really, though, what do they expect? it is only May, after all.

Chris made bourbon chicken for dinner tonight even though neither of us was very hungry. it was really really good, even if it was a bit spicier than I would have liked. here, have a collage!

I have to get to bed. work is going to be terribly busy tomorrow, I want to be as awake as possible. good night!

doodle

it's weird. now that we are down to three people at work, I am stressed and overworked and constantly busy. every day this week I have left that place mentally exhausted. and yet I feel better about it then I have in a long time. I actually leave feeling like I have accomplished something. I am tired, but my day has not been a complete waste. I mean, it's a little more than I would prefer, don't get me wrong. I am very overwhelmed. and next week will be even worse, what with having off on Monday and everything. but at least I am doing things. it fills me with a weird sort of satisfaction.

we had dinosaur chicken nuggets for dinner tonight. they tasted like childhood.

speaking of food, we went to Musso's for their buffet last night for wings. I didn't get the buffet, but I sure wish I would have. Dustin tried to convince me to try a little stromboli, which is something I have always refused to try. but since I am trying to expand my horizons, I did try it. I nearly cried from the pure deliciousness of it. seriously, the fact that I have fought against something so wonderful for so many years is a tragedy. this has often been the case as of late. I try some "disgusting" food that I have spurned my entire life and it turns out to be amazing. probably this is because I am getting so old.

but I will never like onions. or mushrooms.

Gamesday 2009

here it is, the long-awaited Gamesday entry! and only a week after the actual event!

so we left Friday evening instead of Friday afternoon because Shin was late. the traffic was pretty bad since the highway was, for some reason, down to one lane.
lots of traffic

I killed some time taking pictures. Steve was driving.

Chris was in the back.

we relaxed in the hotel room for a while.

that's my butt behind Mike.

we decided to go to The Nest for dinner.

the weather looked iffy, but it held out for us.

Kyle and Chris broke out some cigars.

we all sat down to look out over the water.

the next day, I realized that I had forgotten my mascara and hair brush at home. so Kyle and I had to walk several thousand blocks (google maps tells me it is .5 mile each way) to the CVS to buy some. I didn't take pictures of this because I was too ticked off. but let it be known that I was already awake and had walked a mile by 9:00 AM. after we got back and I made myself presentable, we headed to Gamesday. because of me, we were running late, so we didn't get breakfast.

the line was pretty long when we got there, but I'm not sure what those people were waiting for. we went around them and got through the line in no time.
waiting for tickets

we spent most of the morning in line at the store. I spent a whole crap ton of money, it was pretty impressive. while we were in line, we saw a big squig get rolled by, but we didn't realize until later that it was a cake!
squig cake

apparently the Ace of Cakes guy made a squig cake for Gamesday. Awesome!
squig cake again

we were pretty well starved by the time we had bought all our things and fought the crowds for pictures of the cake, so we went to Quiznos for lunch.

afterwards, we had to sit outside and wait for Kyle.
chris, shin, & steve

Kim came this year again, which was awesome.

during this down-time, I finally remembered to take a picture of the chaos symbols Kylie had painted on my nails.

even though it was supposed to rain, the weather was beautiful.
walking back to the convention center

here's a picture of the crowd inside.

someone built a huge ork thing of some sort.

I'm not sure what it is exactly, except that it flies, but it is pretty nifty none-the-less.

there was a guy at the conversion contest that I caught cheating - he had a whole bunch of sprues under his feet. I couldn't bring myself to report him, so Steve stepped in and took care of it. it was awesome. I didn't take any pictures of this, either. here's the end of the costume contest. this is the guy who ended up winning, even though you could tell they really wanted to give it to the little kid.
costume contest

we went to dinner very soon after dinner, even though most of us weren't hungry yet. we went to Tír na nÓg, which is a pretty nifty place.

Chris and Shin are retarded.

Steve and I shared some "chips".

Kim and Dustin paused in their bickering to smile for a photo.

Mike looks like he was having an awesome time.

there were some guys performing outside. it was entertaining to watch the crowd trying to dance.
inner harbor

after dinner we had to wait outside for a while. I am not entirely sure why.
waiting at the harbor

when we finally got walkin' again, we came upon a prom. we took pictures because we have somehow become creepy old people. we also critiqued their dresses.
a prom

after that we went to the Ben and Jerry's stand. I got some oatmeal cookie chunk ice cream, which was really good. better, even, then the stuff at Cold Stone. it was legen-DAIRY (happy now, Steve?). then we went back to the hotel, which was really boring. so me and Chris and Shin and Kim went out to the bar. yeah, I know, pretty crazy turn of events. Kim got drunk in a hurry, which was really funny. unfortunately, I don't have pictures of this either.

eventually everyone else stopped being lame and came out with us, but I got a migraine and went to bed by midnight. while I was asleep, Mike lost his hat on the roof of the parking garage (don't ask questions, it is easier that way). in a hair-brained plot to rescue it, Shin lost his shoes.
where are shin's shoes?

we took pictures of them the following morning.
shin's shoes

before leaving Baltimore, we had some chinese at the Gallery mall.
chinese!

on the way home we stopped at Cracker Barrel.
shin and steve at cracker barrel

we were mostly very tired.
us at cracker barrel

we all took turns with the stupid peg game. I have apparently lost any skill with pegs that I ever had.
chris and the peg game

Shin looked pretty cool on his motorcycle (and was driving me nuts with his death-defying stunts) so I took a picture.

and that was the end.
