Remember several months ago when I made broccoli cheddar soup but forgot to take a photo?  Well, your long wait is over - I made it again, this time with photographic evidence.  Behold: Broccoli Cheddar Soup with Homemade Croutons!

Isn't that just beautiful?  And it was delicious, too, of that I can assure you.  We made the whole recipe and ate it all in one night.  Ah well, totally worth it.  Want to know how I made the croutons?  It's pretty easy.

Yeah, that's right - I smashed up a loaf of stale bread with a hammer.  You see, we had intended to make this soup a week or two ago, which is when we bought all the ingredients.  Everything else held out for us, but the baguette was hard as a rock.  But I am not one to eat soup without some sort of bread product, so I improvised.  And it turned out pretty well - the croutons got nice and soft and soup-saturated in no time.  So next time you've got a bread brick, consider bashing the crap out.  It's pretty satisfying.
