My First Green Smoothie

As you may or may not know, I've been lifting and running and trying to eat healthier for a while now.  But I still have a really hard time consuming enough vegetables in a day.  To help remedy this situation, I decided to try my first ever green smoothie last night.

I started with this recipe: Cantaloupe-Grape Sweetness, but altered it a little to fit my needs.  I used:
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/2 cup cantaloupe
  • 1/2 cup grapes
  • 1/2 cup 1% milk

I stuck the whole business in my knock-off magic bullet and blended it up.

It smelled good, and was a very pretty color, but I was not completely sure about actually drinking it.  I took a few sips and was totally grossed out by the texture.  I jokingly tried to pawn it off on Chris, and he told me to put it in the fridge so he could drink it later.  The fact that he was actually willing to drink the thing somehow renewed my dedication, and I resolved to finish it myself.

I live-tweeted the event, since live-tweeting is my new favorite thing.

In the end, I was able to finish the green smoothie, and it really wasn't that bad at all.  I think if I blend it better next time, maybe it won't be so bad?  I guess we'll have to wait and see.
