If you know my in person and have spoken to me in the last two weeks, I have probably talked to you about or tried to make you listen to my Southern Gothic playlist on Spotify. Southern Gothic is a new genre of music that I just recently discovered existed and I've listened to basically nothing else since. I've been missing it all my life and I never even realized. What is Southern Gothic, you ask? Well, the best way I can describe it is this: think about swamps and dark family secrets and voodoo curses and the battle between good and evil. Now imagine that was music. It's kind of like that.
So the short story is that I'll probably be featuring some of my favorite Southern Gothic songs here for a little while. This week's song is Stolen Roses by Karen Elson and I just love everything about it. The accordion, the lyrics. Everything. Enjoy.
